Alternative Activities

In addition to world class live music, Live from the Rock offers a host of activities throughout festival weekend. Check your program book to find out more about all the extras the weekend has to offer.

To mark the 20th anniversary, the 2022 festival will include a full lineup of community partner-led workshops and self-guided activities during the day on Friday, August 5th. Click here to check out the full schedule.

Campfire Jams

After the Festival Stage closes for the night, campers are invited to join in the revelry out on the point (past the marina) at the nighttime campfire. Bring your enthusiasm, your voice, an instrument and a friend. The campfire is a magical way to experience music up close and personal, so campfire attendees are asked to honour the music and fellow players by listening attentively and respecting the designated campfire host each night.

Acoustic Song Circle

Grab your instrument and join the acoustic song circle - a gathering place for those who'd like to sit around and share songs. Look for the sign located up on the grassy area beside the railroad tracks behind Main Gate. Bring a chair, an instrument and some of your favourite tunes.

Saturday - 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. hosted by TbayTrad

Songwriting Workshop

Participate in an original songwriting workshop to create this year's theme song. Join the festival musicians and your peers to create your song with an invitation to perform the final version at the festival's Sunday evening closing ceremonies.

Saturday - 3:15 p.m. in the Marina Building Multipurpose Room (back of building facing Recreation Centre) with artists Coco Love Alcorn and JC Campbell

Morning Yoga

Kelly Rooney will be facilitating yoga for yogis of all ages and skill levels. Kelly's yoga journey began in 2004 in South Africa at a meditation retreat. She fell in love with yoga as a gentle form of exercise and quickly began to feel the effects of the practice - physically, emotionally and spiritually. Kelly became a certified yoga instructor at Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico in May 2016. Now Kelly is excited to share the health and wellness benefits of yoga in our community.

Friday and Saturday - 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Lakeside Activity Area

Parks Canada

Parks Canada staff will be on site providing education and information about our local and regional wildlife, ecosystems and environment, as well as holding family activities for folks of all ages throughout the weekend. Visit them in the Community Corner to learn more!
